Brookside Gardens and Wheaton Regional Park 

Covering 50 acres, Brookside Gardens is a botanical wonderland featuring landscaped aquatic, azalea, butterfly, rose, and Japanese-style gardens.

There are several distinct areas: Aquatic Garden, Azalea Garden, Butterfly Garden, Children’s Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Style Garden, Trial Garden, Rain Garden, and the Woodland Walk.

The Formal Gardens areas include a Perennial Garden, Yew Garden, the Maple Terrace, and Fragrance Garden. Brookside Gardens also features two conservatories for year-round enjoyment. Clyburn Arboretum, An Oasis in Baltimore
Sitting high on a hill with traffic speeding far below, Cylburn Arboretum in Baltimore has over 200 acres of gardens and woods that are free for all to enjoy. The City of Baltimore purchased the estate in 1954. After a brief stint as a Youth Home, it was transitioned as a place “to enable adults and youth to understand and enjoy the out-of-doors and to preserve the existing natural beauty and facilities of Cylburn Park.” Read more…

Historic London Town & Gardens, 23 acres of beautiful gardens and a rich history to discover. The gardens are magnificent and certified as a Level II Arboretum, meaning that they have a collection of at least 100 tree and woody plant species.

Follow the path from the Visitor Center out past the Sound & Sensory Garden, where kids can experiment with different sounds, most of them pleasant. Continue to the Ruritan Pavilion for a great view of the South River. From here, the path wanders through the woods under towering trees.

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is the only national park dedicated to cultivated water-loving plants. Although it covers just 8.5 acres, this small park is full of amazing sights. It features 45 ponds and a variety of water flowers, all located next to the Anacostia River. The longest trail is only half a mile and is flat, making it accessible for everyone.
