Pawsitively Perfect Dog-Friendly Beaches in Maryland
Hey there, fellow dog lovers! Maryland has some great dog-friendly beaches. Most dogs and their owners love a trip to the beach. If you’re looking for some fun in the sun with your furry best friend, Maryland has got you covered. Check out these awesome dog-friendly beaches where you and your pup can splash around, play fetch, or just relax together:
1. Assateague National Seashore – This beautiful beach allows dogs year-round! Just keep your pup on a leash and enjoy the stunning views and sandy shores. “The beach without the lifeguards is dog-friendly. When we take our dogs on vacation with us, we always go there. It’s a bit far, but always fun for everyone.” 7-day pass is $25
2. Quiet Waters Park – Located in Annapolis, this park features a dedicated dog beach where your canine companion can run free and make new friends. $6/car
3. Downs Park Dog Beach – Found in Pasadena, this spot is perfect for letting your dog off-leash to frolic in the water and dig in the sand. $6/car.
4. Matapeake Park – On Kent Island, this beach offers a special area just for dogs. It’s a great place for a swim and a picnic afterward. Free

In Calvert County south of Prince Frederick, the shortest trail to the beach is a winding and shady 1.8 miles through the woods. Once on the beach, you can explore the quarter-mile shoreline for fossils and shells. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times. Memorial Day – Labor Day $5/person. Other times $5/vehicle
BONUS – Two Delaware Dog Beaches
Imagine taking your dog to the ocean with you on a sunset walk. Dewey Beach loves dogs. They are allowed to run on the beach without a leash year-round. Memorial Day through Labor Day dog hours are limited to before 9:30am and after 5:30pm. “Dewey Beach is amazing, dogs are allowed off-leash all day during off-season.” Dogs must have a license which can be purchased online. A 3-day license is $5.
Dogs are allowed on the beach from October 1 through April 30, but not during warmer months at any Delaware swimming or sunbathing beach.
