What’s Special About Ocean City, Maryland?
What’s so special about Ocean City, Maryland that entices eight million people to head there every year? Most of the visitors arrive in the summer, and the ten miles of ocean front is clearly a draw, but what else is there to do?
A wooden boardwalk lined with restaurants, shops, and hotels stretches all the way to 27th Street. At the boardwalk’s southern end, Trimper’s Rides has hosted theme-park attractions for decades. The surrounding waters of the Isle of Wright Bay are active with kayaks and tour boats, some of which journey to popular Assateague Island nearby. “You love it or you hate it. I have been going every summer my entire life and love it,” says Kathleen Morse a member of the group: Things to do in Maryland.

I have been going there all my life. Even though it has changed a lot over the last 60 years, it still holds a special place in my heart. I took my children and now my grandchildren.
I prefer it over many other Northeastern Beach towns. If you don’t like the vibe, there is Rehoboth and Dewey just a short drive up the road, or the whole peninsula south with Assateague and several towns south. There is something for everyone!!

Barn 34 or Generals Kitchen for Breakfast
The Bayside Skillet
If you haven’t been to the Spain Wine Bar in OC & had their tapas & wine, you need to make sure you do. We drove an hour each way to eat there & it’s the best food I’ve eaten since I moved to DE a year ago
Go to M.R. Ducks and order the pounder-hot. You won’t regret it!!
I’m fan of the Sahara Cafe for breakfast or Jimmy’s Kitchen (just over the DE line).. Also enjoy Thrashers, Polish Ice, Crabcake Factory as mentioned already. In addition, I am a Greene Turtle fan and Purple Moose…both classics.
Franco’s or Tony’s pizza on the boardwalk. My husband and daughter gave Brass Balls Saloon on the boardwalk a thumbs up. They really liked the bar inside, but you can eat outside on the boardwalk too. Jackspot on Dorchester St., bayside.. nice outside bar/seating up on top. Overlooks bay. M.R. Ducks is right next doorl. We love Sunset Betty’s for burgers and Laytons for breakfast. Have fun.

Traveling to Ocean City With Kids
“I would suggest booking adjoining rooms and something oceanfront on the boardwalk. It will minimize the need to travel in the streets, give easy access to the beach and H2O(club for teens), and also allow for you to keep an ear and eye on them. The Grand, Comfort Inn, Crystal Beach, Ocean 1, Park Place. There are so many.. these are just a few I have stayed at over the years,” Teresa Bennett
