Where to Pick Your Own Strawberries In Maryland
Fresh strawberries eaten right after picking have incredible flavor. The work of picking the berries is worth the reward. There are a few things to know before you go out to pick your own strawberries. Strawberry season is short and starts around mid-May, continuing into early June, depending on the weather. Once at the strawberry field, you are often assigned a designated area to pick your berries. Stay in your area, and don’t interfere with other pickers. Children are great at picking strawberries, but they need to stay with an adult and be careful where they step so they don’t damage plants or berries. Fields are for picking, not eating.
You can be charged for your produce by weight or by the container provided by the farm. The options will vary by farm.
Pets are not allowed.
Here’s a list of farms in Maryland, listed by county, where you can pick strawberries. Check the farms’ websites or contact them for current picking schedules and availability, as these can vary.
