KOMA, a Delightful Cafe with Italian Cuisine
Driving right past KOMA, a delightful, unassuming cafe with picnic tables out front that belies the wonderful food served to customers, would be understandable. When the weather is nice the picnic tables are filled with families and friends enjoying good food.
KOMA opens its doors at 7:30 am, and closes at 9 pm. Happy hour is 4-6 every day. Breakfast and lunch are served until 4 pm. Before dinner starts at 5 pm., sharables, served with a side of focaccia, include a wide range of marinated vegetables and cheeses that combine perfectly with a large selection of hand-crafted drinks and wine.
During the day, it isn’t unusual to see people at the tables inside with their laptops plugged in while they work and sip coffee or specialty drinks and enjoy Italian-inspired pastries. KOMA makes their own pop tarts and flakey delicious croissants, or you could enjoy breakfast toast with toppings ranging from Nutella, avocado, and ricotta to smoked salmon. The lunch menu includes salads and sandwiches, as well as vegan and gluten-free options.
Chef Brad Feickert is classically trained and his food is excellent. I’d be happy with the Pear Salad as my entre, but it’s nearly impossible to resist pairing the salad with pizza or a pasta dish. You can keep the pizza simple with classic cheese and pepperoni, or try one of the specialty toppings like lamb sausage, pulled chicken, and mushrooms, or chopped salami and caramelized artichokes. And then there are the pastas.
For dessert try their soft serve ice cream. There is a different flavor every week.
KOMA is much more than a neighborhood cafe. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. There is a bar area to enjoy one of their many specialty drinks. You can come at almost any time of the day and find outstanding food.
