Maryland Day Pass Reservation System Expands

Starting June 12, the Maryland State Park day pass reservation system expands to Point Lookout, Newtowne Neck, and North Point State Parks, just in time for the Juneteenth holiday on June 19 and all weekends and holidays through Labor Day. Since Memorial Day weekend, this new system has proven effective at Greenbrier State Park and Sandy Point State Park.

Using the Maryland Day Pass Reservation System

With the reservation system, visitors can secure their day-use passes up to seven days in advance by visiting parkdayuse.maryland.gov. This advance booking is essential during peak times, as it helps to reduce overcrowding, minimize traffic delays at park entrances, and lower the chances of capacity closures. Most importantly, it ensures that every visitor has a guaranteed spot before they arrive.

Please note that reservations are required on weekends and holidays through Labor Day, and same-day drive-up access will not be permitted. Reservations can be made online and can be modified or canceled until 8 a.m. the day before your visit. Regular day-use fee payments will be processed at the time of reservation using credit or debit cards or other online payment options.

Maryland Annual Park Passes

Visitors with Maryland Annual Park Passes, Golden Age Passes, or those eligible for free entry as veterans or individuals with disabilities will have their status verified upon arrival. Park staff may also adjust fees based on the actual number of visitors.

This reservation system is in response to the growing number of visitors to Maryland State Parks, especially those with swimming facilities, following the COVID-19 pandemic. Park visitation has surged from an average of 10.8 million per year from 2010 to 2019 to 18.7 million per year from 2020 to 2024, a 73% increase! This increase has led to more frequent capacity closures, causing long wait times and disappointment for visitors. By implementing this new reservation system, we aim to enhance your experience and ensure a smoother, more enjoyable visit to our beautiful parks.
