Festive Family Mocktails and Drinks

During the holiday season, bring a little magic, joy and wonder with festive family mocktails. Take the ordinary to the extraordinary. These family mocktails are non-alcoholic drinks great for anyone, including the kids, who like to feel fancy at the holidays too!

With an abundance of festivities sure to be packing your family calendars from Thanksgiving through the New Year, there are plenty of opportunities to wow family, friends, and guests with whimsical holiday beverages.

Take it up another notch with these great products to use to serve your drinks

Grinch Punch (easy)


Serves 10–12

Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon green sherbet
  • 2 liter Sprite or ginger ale
  • 1 gallon green punch or green Kool-Aid
  • Red sanding sugar

Directions
Empty the sherbet into a large bowl. Pour the sprite or ginger ale and the punch or Kool-Aid over top of the sherbet. Stir the sherbet mixture well. Dip the rim of the glasses in water and then red sanding sugar. Spoon Grinch punch into prepared glasses and enjoy!


Chocolate Orange Smoothie (easy)


Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 can frozen orange juice from concentrate
  • 1 cup milk or non-dairy substitute
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 10 ice cubes
  • Milk chocolate shavings

Directions
Add all ingredients except the milk chocolate to a blender. Blend until smooth. Add some chocolate shavings and pulse until blended. Pour into glasses and top with additional chocolate shavings.


Cranberry Ginger Hot Apple Cider (medium)

The smell and taste of warm apple cider on a crisp fall night is like a hug for the senses. Cozy up on the porch or couch, or snuggle by the fire with a movie or a good book. The whole family will love this twist on a favorite holiday classic.

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sparkling cranberry cocktail (sparkling grape juice will also suffice)
  • 2 cups fresh apple cider
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • ½ teaspoon orange zest
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Cranberries for garnish
  • Rosemary for garnish

Directions
Combine the apple cider, minced ginger, orange zest and cinnamon in a pan. Allow mixture to come to a full boil. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the mixture from the heat and discard the orange zest and cinnamon. Pour the apple cider mixture into glasses, filling them halfway. Fill the glass the rest of the way with sparkling cranberry cocktail or sparkling grape juice. Garnish with sprigs of rosemary and cranberries.

Fruit Foliage Punch (easy)

Ingredients:

  • Equal Parts:u003cbru003eApple Cideru003cbru003ePineapple Juiceu003cbru003eGinger Ale
  • Crushed Ice
  • Fall Leaf Sprinkles u003cemu003e(optional)u003c/emu003e
  • Maple Syrup for rim u003cemu003e(optional)u003c/emu003e

Directions
Combine apple cider, pineapple juice and ginger ale. If decorating the rim of the glass, dip in maple syrup and fall leaf sprinkles. Pour punch over ice and enjoy!

Kid-Friendly Pumpkin Latte (medium)


Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk or non-dairy alternative
  • 1 ½ cups pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar, maple syrup, or sugar substitute
  • Sprinkle of nutmeg
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon
  • Whipped cream and/or caramel topping

Directions
Combine the milk or non-dairy alternative, pumpkin and sugar in a pan. Stir on medium heat until warmed through. Mix in a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. Immediately pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or caramel as desired.

Crock Pot Peppermint Hot Chocolate (easy)

What’s better than the warm comforting scent of peppermint and chocolate wafting through your home this winter? Having your crockpot do all the work! This recipe has cozy jammies and holiday movies written all over it!

Serves 10

Ingredients:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 10 cups of milk (water for lower calorie or lower fat option)
  • 2 ½ cups of instant hot chocolate mix
  • 1 teaspoon of Peppermint extract
  • Whipped cream
  • Marshmallows
  • Crushed peppermint and/or peppermint sticks

Directions
Add sweetened condensed milk, milk or water, hot chocolate mix, and peppermint extract to your crockpot. Mix well with a whisk and cook covered on high for 3 hours, stirring occasionally to combine. Pour into cups and top with marshmallows, whipped cream and peppermint candies.

Sugar Plum Cider (hard)


Serves 10-12

Ingredients:

  • Sugared grapes
  • 3 cups grapes
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • Cider
  • Cranberries
  • 2 plums
  • 2 bottles chilled sparkling white grape juice
  • 4 cups cranberry juice
  • 1/3 cup lime juice

Directions
Sugared grapes: Place half a cup of sugar in a pot and stir in ½ cup of water. Heat over medium until sugar is completely melted. Remove from heat and place the grapes into the pot coating them with the sugar water. Using a slotted spoon, place coated grapes onto a wire cooling rack to dry for one hour. Once grapes are dry, roll them in the remaining ½ cup of sugar. Place grapes on a cookie sheet for one more hour.

When the grapes are fully dry, arrange sugar coated grapes, cranberries and sliced plums on toothpicks or skewers as a garnish. Combine the sparkling grape juice, cranberry juice, and lime juice and serve over ice.

Faux Champagne (easy)


Even the kids can join in on celebratory toasts with this fun and fizzy family friendly alternative.

Serves 12-14

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chilled cran-apple juice
  • 2 cups chilled white grape juice
  • 4 cups chilled ginger ale

Directions
Combine all ingredients and serve in plastic champagne glasses. Float strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries for an extra wow factor.

Candy Spritzer (easier than easy)


Celebrate the New Year or any other festivity with this customizable creation. Super simple, it doesn’t get much easier, or much more fun than this!

Serves 12-14

Ingredients:

  • Fizzy drink of your choice: Sprite, ginger ale, flavored sparkling water, or sparkling juice.
  • Assorted candies like rock candy sticks, gummy bears, gum drops, or pop rocks.

Directions
Fill glasses (preferably plastic champagne glasses) with fizzy drink. Have guests customize their cocktail with rock candy sticks for stirring, gummy treats that float, or pop rocks that fizz!
